Very nice. I can’t seem to get the search bar to prefill in both your version and the original. Is there a trick to it?

On my site, I’m using the WPG2 Search Block plugin: http://dev.cal-family.org/plugins/wpg2-search-block/

I don’t remember how it is on the original version.

Hey Aylwin, first, I want to say thanks a lot for the themese you’ve made - they are amazing! I wanted to ask, how did you get wpg2 to look like that? Namely the layout and styling are very different than a basic gallery2 and wpg2 install. Are you using any specific gallery2 theme, module, or did you just edit the themes to fit?

Thanks for the compliment. I agree that the themes are amazing but I’m not the one who created them. All I have done is tweaked them a little bit so that they work with WPG2.

I haven’t really done anything special with the layout of this site. The Gallery2 theme is the standard one available from the WPG2 forums. I might have done some very minor modifications but I can’t remember now. The Wordpress themes are just the standard optimized versions which I’ve made available for download.

If you have any specific questions regarding the themes and/or layout just let me know. I’ll try to help.

    Hi Michael,

Everything looks fine to me. Now that your Wordpress theme is optimized for WPG2, all you need to do is change your Gallery theme to something that’s also been optimized for WPG2. I recommend this one: http://www.galleryembedded.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2636

Also, the changes you made to header.php need to be done also to wpg2header.php.

hello Aylwin, thanks for responding. I did what you told me and installed that theme and configured it but i still do not see any changes on my site. i think there may be something wrong with my rewrite? it says: “Active But Config Failed with error: There is no .htaccess file in your WordPress root directory (where wp-config.php is located) and that directory is not writable. Please create a writeable .htaccess in that directory.” how do i make a .htaccess file? thanks again

lol okay im getting some progress it seems to work except for one last thing which is when i click on the thumbnail it does not bring me to the main picture

Go to Gallery Site Admin and uninstall the URL Rewrite module. Check that everything now works. Then, go to Gallery Site Admin from this url: http://www.studiomtn.com/main/wp-gallery2.php. From there, you can reinstall and activate the URL Rewrite module.

Hey Aylwin I love the way this looks. Ive been working on changing up the colors to match my taste, but for some reason I am having a problem with one part. The background of the sideblock and the posts on the post page, I have been unable to change the color. I believe the class is widecolumn or something like that. Any help is appreciated!

    Hi Aylwin,

Thanks for for this theme…. very cool.
I do have two problems which i’m hoping you could help me out with.
    1) i can customise the heading (ie. i can’t change “aylwin’sdevsite” on the header).
    2) the gallery is embedded but i’m not sure how to create a direct link.

    hope you can help.

  13. 13 Aylwin

Arthur, sorry for not responding. I tried to look for the relevant CSS class for the sideblock but couldn’t find it. And then I forgot about it. I hope you were eventually able to figure this out. If not, it might be easier if you just contact the original author of theme.

    Leigh,
    1) To change the site name in the header just look for “aylwin’s” and “devsite” in both header.php and wpg2header.php. Then replace the text with your site’s name.
    2) I’m not sure what you mean but the directly link to your embedded gallery is /wp-gallery2.php. Example: http://dev.cal-family.org/wp-gallery2.php

Thank you Aylwin. I have some ideas I will look at later today. I appreciate all the hard work you put into this!

Hi Aylwin, I also got confused by the “aylwin’sdevsite” header at first. I read above how I can put my own title there. But what if I don’t want to hard-code that? Could I somehow refer to the name of the WP blog? Thanks!

Hey Aylwin. Thanks for doing these. I’ve downloaded Chaotic Soul and it looks great but for one thing: on the gallery page, there’s that column separator for the sidebar still showing up. It doesn’t show on your test site in the same way. Is there a setting in Gallery2 that you changed to make that work? Or something in WordPress?

  17. 17 Aylwin

Sorry about that. I probably fixed that problem after the release. Anyway, I’ve updated it now so please download again.

Aylwin, First off, thanks for your hard work. I have three questions for ya:
    1. I made some changes to the footer, and the template (adsense) and now have a pesky &&t that shows up…i tried to undo the changes, and it persists.

    2. I also am having the same column separator problem on the gallery page, and i have the latest theme from you.

    3. same as the first question on this thread….how to prefill the search box.

    Thanks

  19. 19 Aylwin

    Brett, my answers:

    1. I don’t see any “&&t” in the footer. Perhaps you can explain more?

    2. It’s not a column separator problem. The custom WPG2 header isn’t being taken into use. You probably need to verify WPG2 again. This is done by simply navigating to the WPG2 admin menu.

    3. I can see that the search box is already prefilled with “To search, type and hit enter”. If your question is how to modify this then check sidebar.php or search.php.

    Aylwin,
    thanks…
-found the &&t, it seems to show up sometimes when i edit files in the wordpress theme editor…? who knows.

-i figured out the code for the search prefill

-my only question now…is if you browse to the gallery, all the thumbnails are listing right next to one another with no buffer zone…is that a WPG2 header issue as well?

    thanks
